Hello! Part of your sponsor package from my Kickstarter campaign this summer includes a featured video channel page on the site. This is an opportunity to showcase why you sponsored The Smokey Generation and convey what it is you love about the wildland fire community. Your sponsored channel page will be posted through October 2016 and I’ll feature it on our Twitter and Facebook pages at the beginning of the 2016 fire season. I would love to have the page finalized within the next month (e.g., by the end of February) and to make that happen, here is what I need from you…
Your sponsored channel page is designed to showcase the stories you enjoy most from The Smokey Generation and help communicate your involvement in the wildland fire community. It will include your logo, a quick blurb about your company’s support of the project, a video player with curated stories from The Smokey Generation, and a note from me about why I’m excited to have you as a sponsor of the project.
To put this together, I need you to take a look at these four steps:
STEP 1 – Send a quick narrative:
Please send me a paragraph or two to include at the top of the page. It should say something along the lines of why you are supporting The Smokey Generation, what you enjoy about the project, why you thought sponsoring the project was a good fit for your company, or what the wildland fire community means to you. Really it can be anything you want it to be, so long as it’s not a sales pitch (it needs to be categorized as sponsorship and not an advertisement).
STEP 2 – Select a video player:
I’ve provided three mock-up pages for you to choose from. Each mock-up has a similar but different layout and features a different video player. Select which option you’d like for your own page and let me know via email:
STEP 3 – Send a photo or product shot:
At the bottom of the page, I’ll provide a comment about how great I think it is that your company is sponsoring The Smokey Generation. Please send a wildland fire photo that can accompany this comment. The photo should be a representative of your company and/or the wildland fire community. You must own the copyright or have permission to use the image. If, for some reason, I don’t think the photo is a good fit, I’ll let you know right away. If you don’t have anything in mind, let me know and I’ll just put a cool fire shot in there.
STEP 4 – Select the videos you’d like to include on your page:
I recommend selecting up to 12 (but no more than 16) videos/stories that you enjoy from the site – just send me a list of the video titles. If you’d rather I curate the channel for you, let me know if there is any theme or focus you’d like to incorporate and I’ll make it happen (e.g., humorous stories, close-calls, historical context, etc.). I will be continuing to edit and post videos from the Smokejumper reunion over the next little bit, and you can revisit your video selections in a couple of months, if needed. If you’d prefer to tell me the list over-the-phone, just let me know!
That’s it! Thanks so much for sponsoring the project!
