Today’s Coloring Sheet: Structure Protection

The Photograph:

Each coloring sheet is created from a real photograph. This photograph was taken by an awesome wildland firefighter and photographer named Jake Lang, who works on the Wyoming Hotshot Crew. It’s a great photo that shows the type of work that wildland firefighters do on the fireline.

We hope you enjoyed coloring your sheet. How does it compare to the photo above? Does the photo make you think differently about the picture? Did you use different colors? We can’t wait to see everyone’s finished coloring, so be sure to share below or on social media (with your parent’s permission, of course)!

What is going on in this photo?

Here is a great video by Steve Schopper, Audio/Visual Specialist for the Colorado Springs Fire Department (USA), who documented and describes structure protection during the Black Forest Fire (which burned on June 12, 2013). He gives a behind the scenes look at what structure protection often looks like during wildland fire suppression operations.
